Plant pot
This plant pot (sort of thing, kinda) is my first attempt at a new technique which creates the tree bark like cracks in the body of the clay. The how isn’t important (but it’s a special liquid you paint on the outside, before you expand the vessel out), but it is a cool effect! I don’t know if I’ll be doing loads of it, but it’s good to try new things. Next time I’ll take it further and make the cracks bigger and deeper!
It’s glazed in Mussel Shoals, a beautiful semi-gloss white glaze with cream/translucent flecks. These flecks are what gives the glaze it’s name as they are made by incorporating locally collected mussel shells, ground up and mixed into the glaze formula that I developed from scratch. I know it sounds silly, but the glaze has a very textural ‘softness’ to it which I just adore and I hope you do too.
