Large Mug

Not your regular cup of tea!  This mug is on the large side, allowing you to get on with your work without having to get up to boil that pesky kettle so often!  Actually, scratch that, you’re still allowed to get up and stretch your legs – need a good coffee break!  It’s a particularly good example of the Blue Mist glaze too.  This glaze is full of randomness and happy accidents and this mug has them all!  It’s my favourite glaze on my favourite mug – really want to keep it for myself, but my mug rack is already overflowing (occupational hazard of being a potter!).

The piece is glazed in Blue Mist, one of my favourite glazes!  In the extreme heat of the kiln, this glaze flows as it melts, creating streaks, rivulets and flow lines.  Where it flows away, leaving only a thin layer it becomes transparent.  Where it’s thick, it’s a stunning baby blue with a mottling and occasional dark blue streaks in the colour that really draws you in.  Where one layer flows over another it leaves a gorgeous tan tide line.  Can you tell it’s one of my favourites?!?!
